The last several days we have been really busy chasing down the fish.  With the NE winds blowing the air temp felt like OCT and the ocean finally got nice enough to fish off Oak Island.  Capt John reported steady action on the Blacktip Sharks and bait all up and down the beach.  Ive been in the backwater targeting Red Drum and Flounder with good results as well.  The pictures look like they were taking in the winter but they were this week.

 

Well the wind is still blowing here at Oak Island but the fishing is still productive.  On the nearshore trips we are going to Carolina Beach to hide from the wind and the fishing is not great but its better than sitting at the house.  Now the backwater fishing is still producing big Red Drum and Flounder so you do have choices when its wind.  BTW if you go out of CB inlet around low tide watch out I saw 2.6ft and breaking water across.

 

I almost forgot which pictures go where from this weekend.  Lost of fishing and catching is what was going on with Oak Island Fishing Charters.  Capt John ended up going offshore again with Oak Islands “Nauti Girl Charters” and they caught everything that swims out there.  Some of the fish are 35lb king mackerel big scamps, big gags, hub cap size triggerfish and all the jacks and bass they wanted.  I had backwater trips with the sons and daughters for fathers day.  The Red Drum, Flounder and Trout will be on the menu for a couple of families this week.  Sure hope the Spanish Mackerel show up.

On our morning trip our problem was we could not get away from the Red Drum (darn).  Anyway I wish it was always like this but we are having fun in the backwater while waiting on the ocean to clear up nearshore and the Spanish to make another showing.

We have been busy at Oak Island Fishing Charters trying to fiqure out whats going on after the storm last week so here it is.  The Spanish Mackerel are all but gone (the will be back) and Capt John has been doing well on the blacktip sharks.  Once again the last couple days we have been beating the socks off the Red Drum, Flounder and Trout in the backwater.

Once again the wind is showing us no mercy so we are still doing the backwater fishing.  This bite is still steady and the fish are getting bigger and the smiles are getting bigger also.  Today this little fisherman showed us how it was done and caught this big Red Drum all by himself.

With the aftermath of the Tropical Storm we are staying away from the Nearshore Fishing trips this week to allow the water calm down and clear up.  As you can tell the fish are biting.

Today was Oak Island Fishing Charters first day back on the water after the storm and our expectations were low.  Mother nature will fool you everytime cause catching was  better than before the storm.  Lots of Red Drum and a 4lb flounder.  I know one thing they will be back.

Oak Island Fishing Charters is still teasing you with the big grouper pic because over the last several weeks we have caught over 100 Scamps, Reds and Gag Groupers.  This could take some time as the pics keep rolling in.  Hope you enjoy looking.

The other day Oak Island Fishing Charters was joined by the one and only Vanessa Maritn (Nauti Girl Charters at Oak Island) .  We are very happy her crew picked us to go catch them some monster groupers and she will be back.  Really wish these pictures would arrive faster than 1 at a time.  Enjoy the rainy day.
