Oak Island Fishing Charters Weekend Update

Sorry for the delay in the fishing reports but we have had near perfect weather and fishing conditions here at Oak Island.  First of all the Red Drum bite is heating back up with some very nice Flounder mixed it.  On all our Shark trips the last 3 day we have caught them so fast at times the bait will only make it 10ft from the boat.  Finally we got offshore to join in on the Live Bait African Pompano action.  Once again beating the fish up from the backwater to the bluewater we got you covered with success.

Oak Island Fishing Charters Weekend Backwater Update

Ill make this short and simple.  The wind as been blowing pretty good here at Oak Island and the boats have not been able to make it out into the ocean.  Just because its rough out there does not mean we have been sitting around because the Red Drum are still willing to put a good bend in the rods and smiles on all the clients that have  joined us the last 3 days.  Looks like we will be back in the ocean around Wed but there is still a lot of Backwater to explore this week.

Oak Island Fishing Charters Backwater and Shark Catching Update

Wow, this has been an awesome week weather wise and even better fishing.  The Blacktip Sharks have been trying to jump in the boat with us all week long while fishing off Oak Island.  Most of the sharks avg 40lbs but when each have day is catching around 25 fish a trip that’s big enough.  All week you could see the sharks swimming around boat and basically pick out the fish you wanted to catch.  Now in the backwater Red Drum fishing is still steady except for Fri afternoon is slowed down for us but we will find them again no worries here.  Looks like Ill be in the backwater this weekend while the wind blows again

Oak Island Fishing Charters Nearshore and Backwater Fishing Reports

Looks like the fish have made a showing again off Oak Island with Spanish Mackerel right off the beach along with the Blacktip Sharks.  Capt John reported tons of Pogies around the big hill which was the main attraction for the other game fish.  The Backwater fishing is still very steady with Red Drum and Flounder.  Looks like the Grouper better hide cause Im going after them in the morning.

Oak Island Fishing Charters Backwater Action

Even after all this wind and rain here at Oak Island the backwater fishing has been steady since Sunday again.  Lots of Red and Black Drum with a trout mixed in.  The big news is the last two days the Flounder have made a great showing catching 10 plus a trip but most are too small to keep.  The flounder fishing will get better so lets keep the rods bent on the Drum.

Oak Island Fishing Charters Backwater to Bluewater Update

Finally the whole week was great fishing at Oak Island.  We started the week off chasing down the Scamp Groupers and Amberjacks.  Then the next couple days we did battle with huge blacktip sharks very close to the beach and if you noticed we leave all the big sharks in the water and released unharmed.  If we cant grab them I will not put a gaff hook in one then think its ok as its bleeding.  Now on the final leg of the week we stayed in the backwater targeting Red Drum and Flounder.  So no matter what you want to catch we will try our best to produce cause its our FULL TIME job and we love what we do.  Looks like Ill be sitting at the house as this storm blows by Fri and Sat but hope to be back on the water Sunday.

Oak Island Fishing Charters Nearshore Is On Fire

With all the fresh water running out of the Cape Fear River and around Oak Island I don’t see how the Nearshore fishing can get any better.  The big Bluefish and Spanish are still holding out in the 4 mile range.  The Sharks on the morning trip was MIA but on the afternoon trip you could sight cast to 60-80lb blacktips the whole time.  Just goes to show you this when you go fishing you never know whats going to happen.  Ill be in the backwater the rest of the week and Capt John will be nearshore.

Oak Island Fishing Charters Nearshore Update

The Nearshore action off Oak Island is finally in full swing again.  All the Big Bluefish and Spanish mackerel you care to catch about 4 miles off the beach.  The big Sharks are very thick also on all our nearshore trips the last few days we have been catching Hammerheads and Blacktips in the 7 foot range.  Waiting on the pictures to start rolling in.
